What We Take: Shed Removal
The whole shed leaves: the roof and the shingles, the walls and the siding, the floor and the joists under it, the door and its hardware, the ramp, and whatever shelving was built into it. A metal shed's panels and frame come out of the load as scrap, and the wood is sorted for recycling wherever the facility takes it. If the shed still has things in it, and most of them do, the mower, the tools, the paint cans and the bags of fertilizer can go on the same visit. Paint and chemicals are taken and quoted on their own, so count them when you call.
The ones people ask about: we do take paint, chemicals, motor oil, tires, car batteries and propane tanks. They are quoted separately because they need special handling. Mattresses and box springs go to a mattress recycler whenever it will accept them, TVs and monitors go to an e-waste recycler, and appliances holding refrigerant go to a recycler that recovers the refrigerant. Each of those recyclers charges per item, and we pass that charge on for every piece it accepts. All of these charges come on top of the minimum or the volume price, and we tell you each one and confirm it with you before any work starts. Mattresses, box springs, old tube (CRT) TVs and monitors, and appliances holding refrigerant are disposal-banned in Massachusetts. The only things we turn down are asbestos, medical or biohazard waste, and anything leaking or still smoldering. See everything we take.
What Sets the Price on Shed Removal
A shed is priced by the space the pieces take up once it is down, at $70 to $100 a cubic yard against a truck that holds 20, with a $120 minimum, so the footprint and the number of walls matter more than how tall it looked standing. Two things add to that. A concrete pad or a block base under it is heavy for the room it fills and is weighed rather than measured, so tell us if that is going too. And the run between the shed and the truck is often the longest carry on any job we do, because sheds sit at the back of the yard. How Much Will This Cost?
Pricing is based on the space your load takes up in the truck, or on weight for heavy material. We give you a free, firm price in person before any work begins, and once you agree to it, it does not go up.

Do you demolish the shed or does it need to be taken down first?
We do the demolition ourselves on wood, metal, or plastic sheds of any size. You don't need to touch a single panel before we arrive.
What happens to the shed materials?
Wood and scrap metal are separated for recycling wherever possible. We sweep the footprint clean when we're done and leave no nails or debris in your lawn.
Can you remove the concrete base too?
Yes, slab and footing removal is available along with the shed itself. Mention the base when you ask for your quote so we bring the right equipment.
How much does shed removal cost?
It depends on the shed's size and material, with a $120 minimum. Text us a photo with rough dimensions and we'll quote demo, hauling, and cleanup, then confirm the number in person before we start.
Do we have to empty the shed first?
No, and most people do not. We clear the contents and take the structure in the same visit, which is one price instead of two. Point out anything you want kept before we start and it stays out of the load. If there is paint, fuel or a propane tank in there, mention it when you book, because those are quoted on their own.
What is left on the ground when you are done?
You're left with bare ground, or the pad if the pad is staying. We sweep the footprint, pick up the nails and the loose hardware, and the debris goes with us rather than sitting in a pile for later. Grass under a shed that has stood for ten years will be dead, so expect a rectangle you need to seed. If the block or concrete base is going too, say so when you book and it leaves on the same load.
Our Mission Beyond the Job
We keep as much out of landfills as we can. We sort through every truckload, and anything still usable that a charity will take goes for donation first, mostly to Big Blue Bargains in Swampscott, More Than Words in Boston and The Salvation Army.
What cannot be donated gets recycled wherever a facility will take it, and whatever is left goes to the disposal facilities we use.
