What We Take: Office / Commercial Space Cleanout
An office load is desks, cubicle panels and workstations, task chairs, conference tables, filing cabinets and lateral files, bookcases, lockers, reception furniture and break room appliances. The electronics go too: monitors, towers, printers and copiers, phone systems, servers and the cable behind the rack, all to an electronics recycler. Steel filing cabinets, chair bases and cubicle frames come out of the load as scrap. Anything still in service is offered to a local nonprofit before it is broken down, and a fridge or a water cooler holding refrigerant is quoted on its own.
The ones people ask about: we do take paint, chemicals, motor oil, tires, car batteries and propane tanks. They are quoted separately because they need special handling. Mattresses and box springs go to a mattress recycler whenever it will accept them, TVs and monitors go to an e-waste recycler, and appliances holding refrigerant go to a recycler that recovers the refrigerant. Each of those recyclers charges per item, and we pass that charge on for every piece it accepts. All of these charges come on top of the minimum or the volume price, and we tell you each one and confirm it with you before any work starts. Mattresses, box springs, old tube (CRT) TVs and monitors, and appliances holding refrigerant are disposal-banned in Massachusetts. The only things we turn down are asbestos, medical or biohazard waste, and anything leaking or still smoldering. See everything we take.
What Sets the Price on Office / Commercial Space Cleanout
An office is priced by volume, at $70 to $100 a cubic yard against a truck that holds 20, with a $120 minimum, and the building decides most of the rest. A ground-floor suite with a loading door is the fast version. A fourth floor with one elevator, a certificate of insurance to file and a two-hour freight window is the same furniture and a much longer day, which is why we ask about the building rather than the desk count. Tell us the floor, the elevator situation and the hours you can give us, and send photos of each room. We carry $2M in general liability and $1M in commercial auto coverage if the building needs a certificate.
How Much Will This Cost?
Pricing is based on the space your load takes up in the truck, or on weight for heavy material. We give you a free, firm price in person before any work begins, and once you agree to it, it does not go up.

Yes, we're open 24/7, and most office cleanouts happen in the evening or on a weekend so your team never works around us.
What happens to usable office furniture?
Desks, chairs, and filing cabinets in good shape go for donation to local nonprofits and organizations first. The rest is broken down for recycling wherever possible.
We have a lease handover deadline. Can you meet it?
That's the most common reason people call us. Tell us the walkthrough date. We'll come look and give you a firm number, and the space will be empty and broom-clean before your landlord sees it.
Do you take old computers and office electronics too?
Yes, monitors, towers, printers, and phone systems all go to certified e-waste recyclers. We recommend wiping drives before pickup for your own data security.
Can you take the cubicles apart?
Yes. Panels come off the frames, work surfaces unbolt, and the whole run comes down in pieces small enough for a freight elevator. It goes faster than it looks once the first bay is off. What we do not do is disconnect power poles or the hardwired whips running into a cubicle run, so an electrician has to kill those first.
What happens to the filing and the loose paper?
Loose paper and old files go out with the load, and cabinets go whether they are full or empty. If anything in them is confidential, tell us when you book so it is bagged rather than loose on the truck, or have it shredded first if your own policy calls for that. We do not provide shredding ourselves, and we would rather say so now than have you find out on the day.
Our Mission Beyond the Job
We keep as much out of landfills as we can. We sort through every truckload, and anything still usable that a charity will take goes for donation first, mostly to Big Blue Bargains in Swampscott, More Than Words in Boston and The Salvation Army.
What cannot be donated gets recycled wherever a facility will take it, and whatever is left goes to the disposal facilities we use.

The Junk Heroes is a brother-owned and operated junk removal company rooted in Salem, MA. We live right on the line between Salem and Swampscott, two minutes from Vinnin Square, and we started this business because we wanted to run a junk removal service that showed up on time, treated customers like neighbors, and charged honest prices.
