Residential Junk Removal in Salem & the North Shore
The everyday kind: a couch down the stairs, an old fridge in the basement, a garage that filled up over the years.
The residential jobs we take on around Salem
Most of the junk removal we do on the North Shore is the everyday kind, a couch that has to come down the stairs, an old fridge in the basement, a garage that filled up over the years, or a whole house of stuff after someone moves out. My brother Filipe and I run The Junk Heroes out of Salem, and this kind of residential work is still most of what we do every week.
You call or text, a real person on our team answers, and we come out to look at what you have and give you a price, and if the price works for you we get started, often right then. We do all the lifting and we sweep up when we are done, and before anything goes to the dump we try to donate or recycle whatever we can.
What we handle
These are the residential jobs we get called for the most, and each one has its own page with more detail if you want it. If what you have doesn't fit neatly into any of them, call us anyway and we will figure it out with you.
-
Same-Day Junk Removal
When you call in the morning we can often be at your door that same day, it depends on how the day is already looking, but we will tell you when you call whether we can make it.
-
Curbside & Driveway Junk Pickups
Leave the items in the driveway or out by the curb and we come by and load them, a photo by text ahead of time helps so we know what we are picking up.
-
Furniture Removal
Couches, sectionals, dressers, bed frames and dining sets are what we carry out most, and we bring them down whatever stairs are in the way, then try a donation center first if the piece is still in decent shape.
-
Piano Removal
An upright goes out whole on a dolly with enough hands on it, and a grand comes apart first, the lid, the legs, the lyre and the pedal box, then out on its side. We do the taking apart, not you.
-
Pool Table Removal
The felt comes off, the rails unbolt, the slate lifts out in sections one at a time, and then the frame and the legs come apart. If you have already started taking it apart, stop and leave the rest for us.
-
Exercise Equipment Removal
Treadmills, ellipticals, exercise bikes, rowers, home gym systems, squat racks, benches and the plates stacked beside them. None of it comes up the basement stairs whole, so we break it down where it sits and carry it out in pieces.
-
Appliance Removal
Old fridges, washers, dryers, stoves and dishwashers are heavy and awkward, so we bring enough hands to get them out without scraping up your floors or the doorframe on the way.
-
Mattress & Box Spring Removal
Mattresses have their own disposal rules in Massachusetts, so we make sure that yours is disposed of the right way, and we carry the box spring down too, however many turns the stairs have.
-
Scrap Metal Pickup
Swing set and pool frames, metal bed frames, filing cabinets, radiators, storm doors, gutters, pipe, shelving, grills and lawn equipment. We pull the metal out of the load and it goes to Turner Inc in Lynn rather than the transfer station.
-
Electronic Waste Removal
We take old TVs, computers, printers and the cables that go with them, and since Massachusetts has its own rules for electronics we make sure they end up recycled instead of in the trash.
-
Renovation Debris Removal
After a kitchen or bathroom redo there is usually a pile of drywall, cabinets, tile and lumber sitting in the garage, we load it all and sweep the spot clean before we leave.
-
Yard Debris Removal
Branches after a storm or an old fence that came down, we load all of it into the truck and clean up whatever is left behind so the yard is ready for you again.
-
Carpet Removal
Pulling up old carpet and padding is dusty, tiring work, so a lot of people would rather have us pull it up, carry it out and haul it away in one trip.
How a residential job usually goes
You call or text 978-915-3399 and a real person on our team picks up, never a call center or an AI. You can text us photos of the junk, and for something simple like a single couch we can usually give you a price right over the phone. For anything bigger we come out, take a look and quote it on the spot, and the quote is free, we don't ask for a card and there is no obligation to book.
Once you say yes we get to work, you show us what goes and we carry it out from wherever it is, you don't have to move anything to the door or the curb yourself unless you want to. When the truck is loaded we sweep up, you look everything over, and then you pay the price we quoted, after the job is done, by cash, card, check, Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
After we leave we sort through the load, anything still usable we try to donate first, then we recycle what we can, and only what is left after that goes to the dump, which is how we have always tried to do it.
What it costs
Our minimum is $120, and from there the price is based on how much room your stuff takes up in the truck, measured in cubic yards. Heavier loads and harder access, like a lot of stairs or a long carry out to the truck, can change the final quote, and for jobs far from Salem the minimum can be higher, we will tell you all of that before you agree to anything. The price we quote is the price you pay, that is our price-lock promise, and you pay after the job is done.
There is no deposit on an everyday residential job, we only ask for one on a large cleanout and only after you have accepted the quote, and if you want the full breakdown of how we price things it is all on our pricing page.
Who shows up
The Junk Heroes is my brother Filipe and me, Henrique, and we run it ourselves out of Salem. Depending on the size of the job you will also see Rey or Luis working alongside us. We are fully licensed and insured, and the 300+ five-star reviews on Google are from people around the North Shore who let us into their homes, I'm glad that so many of them took the time to write something.
Residential questions
Do I need to bring everything outside before you come?
No, we come inside and carry everything out from wherever it is, the lifting is part of the job. If you would rather leave things in the driveway or at the curb that works too, just text us a photo first so we know what to expect, and you don't need to be there when we come by.
Can you give me a price over the phone?
For something simple like a single couch, usually yes, especially if you text us a photo of it. For anything bigger we would rather come out and see it, so that the price we give you is the price you actually pay, and the visit is free with no card and no obligation.
Can you come today?
Often we can. We are open 24/7 and we do end up going out the same day someone calls a lot of the time, but it depends on what is already booked so we don't promise it, we would rather tell you when you call what we can actually do.
What happens to my stuff after you take it?
We try to donate first, recycle second and send things to the dump last, so furniture in good shape goes to a donation center, electronics get recycled the way Massachusetts requires, mattresses get disposed of properly under the state rules too, and only what can't be reused or recycled ends up at the dump.
Do you charge a deposit?
Not for a normal residential job, you pay after the work is done once you have looked everything over, by cash, card, check, Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, Apple Pay or Google Pay. The only time we ask for a deposit is on a large cleanout, and even then only after you have accepted the quote.
If you have something you want gone
Call or text us at 978-915-3399 any time of day or night and a real person on our team will pick up, you can send a photo of what you have if that is easier, and we will tell you what we think and find a time that works for you. If you decide that you need us, we'll be here!
"Absolutely recommend!!! Excellent communication, very polite, and clear pricing. These guys WANT TO WORK, flexible and patient as our plans kept shifting. My dad has dementia and they were incredibly sensitive to our situation. We really appreciated that!"
"Absolutely awesome experience with Junk Heroes! Professional, friendly, efficient, and incredibly quick. They showed up on time and made the whole junk-removal process painless. Moving out of an apartment is stressful enough, so a crew that takes pride in the work was huge."
"Junk Heroes did an amazing job with our junk removal in Saugus, Massachusetts. They arrived on time, worked fast, and completely cleared out a porch that was packed with junk, boxes, and old items. The before-and-after difference was amazing."
"The Junk Heroes are awesome!!! Excellent communication, showed up on time, and worked quickly. They were super careful while removing a heavy, awkward appliance through an old house and they talked to each other throughout the process to make sure nothing was damaged."
"Absolutely would recommend Henrique and Filipe, so nice and professional and came same day for both a quote and the actual removal!! They were careful to pivot things around our existing furniture and walls so as not to scratch or damage anything. Only good things to say!"
"Did a wonderful job from start to finish. Had 2 hospital beds that needed to be dismantled and hauled away. They took great care in moving the pieces throughout my house and getting them on the truck. Pricing was transparent and fair."
