Leave it in the driveway and you don't have to be home
You don't have to be home for a curbside or driveway pickup. Drag your things out to the curb or leave them in the driveway, text us a photo so we can price it, and we take it from there. It works well for household clutter, old furniture, or yard waste when you can't spare an afternoon waiting around for a truck. We confirm the number when we get there, up or down depending on what's actually out there, and once you agree to it, that's the price you pay.
How We Handle It
We sort what we load: usable items go to local North Shore charities, recyclables get recycled, and the rest is disposed of properly.

What We Take: Curbside & Driveway Junk Pickups
Anything you can get out to the curb or into the driveway, we take: furniture, mattresses and box springs, appliances, bagged household clutter, yard waste, boxes, exercise equipment and old electronics. A mattress, a box spring or a TV has often been sitting out there in the first place because of the recycler fee it carries. If the pile has any of the items listed below in it, say so when you send the photo, rather than leaving us to find them.
The ones people ask about: we do take paint, chemicals, motor oil, tires, car batteries and propane tanks. They are quoted separately because they need special handling. Mattresses and box springs go to a mattress recycler whenever it will accept them, TVs and monitors go to an e-waste recycler, and appliances holding refrigerant go to a recycler that recovers the refrigerant. Each of those recyclers charges per item, and we pass that charge on for every piece it accepts. All of these charges come on top of the minimum or the volume price, and we tell you each one and confirm it with you before any work starts. Mattresses, box springs, old tube (CRT) TVs and monitors, and appliances holding refrigerant are disposal-banned in Massachusetts. The only things we turn down are asbestos, medical or biohazard waste, and anything leaking or still smoldering. See everything we take.
What Sets the Price on Curbside & Driveway Junk Pickups
A curbside pickup is the cheapest way we work, and the reason is simple. There is no carry, because the pile is already where the truck is, so what you are paying for is the space it takes up and the trip: $70 to $100 a cubic yard with a $120 minimum, and closer to $70 when the load is light and we can walk straight to it. Two things change that. A pile with a mattress, a television or an appliance holding refrigerant in it carries a fee for each of those items on top of the volume price, set by what the recycler charges for it. And a pile that has grown since the photo is a bigger load than the one we quoted, which is why we check it against the photo when we get there.
How Much Will This Cost?
Pricing is based on the space your load takes up in the truck, or on weight for heavy material. We give you a free, firm price in person before any work begins, and once you agree to it, it does not go up.

How does curbside junk pickup work?
Put your items at the curb or in the driveway, text a photo to 978-915-3399, and we'll reply with a quote. When we get there we'll call you to confirm the price against what's actually out there, up or down, before we load anything. Once you agree to it, that's the price you pay, and we haul everything away. You don't even need to be home.
Is curbside pickup cheaper than in-home removal?
It can be, since items already outside load faster. Pricing is still based on volume with a $120 minimum, and we confirm the exact number with you before we touch anything, up or down depending on what is out there.
What can I leave out for a curbside pickup?
Furniture, appliances, mattresses, bagged or boxed household junk, e-waste, and yard debris are all fair game. If something is too heavy to drag out, leave it where it is, tell us and we'll carry it out ourselves.
How fast can you get to my curbside pile?
We're open 24/7 and often run curbside pickups the same day. These are the fastest jobs on our schedule because a photo is usually all we need to quote and book.
What if it rains before you get here?
Wet furniture and soaked cardboard hold water and get heavier, so a pile that sat through a storm is a slower load than the same pile dry. We still take it. If you can get a tarp over anything upholstered, that helps, and if the forecast is bad tell us when you book and we will try to get there ahead of it.
Can my neighbor add something to the pile?
Yes, as long as you tell us first. We quote off the photo, and we check that number against what's out there when we get there, so an extra couch that appeared overnight is a bigger load than the one we priced. Send a new photo and we will re-quote it in a minute, which is easier for everyone than sorting it out on the driveway.
Our Mission Beyond the Job
We keep as much out of landfills as we can. We sort through every truckload, and anything still usable that a charity will take goes for donation first, mostly to Big Blue Bargains in Swampscott, More Than Words in Boston and The Salvation Army.
What cannot be donated gets recycled wherever a facility will take it, and whatever is left goes to the disposal facilities we use.

The Junk Heroes is a brother-owned and operated junk removal company rooted in Salem, MA. We live right on the line between Salem and Swampscott, two minutes from Vinnin Square, and we started this business because we wanted to run a junk removal service that showed up on time, treated customers like neighbors, and charged honest prices.
