What We Take: Garage Cleanout
A garage load is usually old tools and a dead mower, bikes and sports gear, paint and stain on the shelf, scrap lumber and offcuts, holiday decorations, boxes from a move, patio furniture, tires off a car nobody owns anymore, and a fridge or a freezer humming in the corner. We take all of it. With a propane tank, tell us whether it is empty, because that decides the price.
The ones people ask about: we do take paint, chemicals, motor oil, tires, car batteries and propane tanks. They are quoted separately because they need special handling. Mattresses and box springs go to a mattress recycler whenever it will accept them, TVs and monitors go to an e-waste recycler, and appliances holding refrigerant go to a recycler that recovers the refrigerant. Each of those recyclers charges per item, and we pass that charge on for every piece it accepts. All of these charges come on top of the minimum or the volume price, and we tell you each one and confirm it with you before any work starts. Mattresses, box springs, old tube (CRT) TVs and monitors, and appliances holding refrigerant are disposal-banned in Massachusetts. The only things we turn down are asbestos, medical or biohazard waste, and anything leaking or still smoldering. See everything we take.
What Sets the Price on Garage Cleanout
A garage is priced by volume, at $70 to $100 a cubic yard against a truck that holds 20 cubic yards, with a $120 minimum, and it is one of the easier jobs to quote from a photo, because the door opens onto the driveway and there is no carry to speak of. A single bay stacked to the ceiling is more load than a double bay with a car still in half of it, so what we look at is the wall of things rather than the floor area. What adds to it is the separately quoted items on the shelves, the paint, the oil, the tires and the propane, so count those in the photo rather than leaving them for the day.

Pricing is based on the space your load takes up in the truck, or on weight for heavy material. We give you a free, firm price in person before any work begins, and once you agree to it, it does not go up.

Do I need to sort everything before you arrive?
No. Walk through with us, point at what goes and what stays, and we do all the sorting, lifting, and loading ourselves.
How long does a garage cleanout take?
Most single-car garages are done in a couple of hours, and even packed two-car garages usually finish the same visit. We clear it down to the floor before we leave.
What happens to the stuff you haul out?
Usable tools, bikes, and household items go for donation to local North Shore organizations. Scrap metal and e-waste go to recycling, and only the true junk goes to disposal.
How much does a garage cleanout cost?
It's based on how much we haul, with a $120 minimum. A photo gets you a quote, and once we look in person you get the firm number. That's the number you pay.
Can you take the old tires off the floor?
Yes. Whole tires are banned from the trash in Massachusetts, so they go to a recycler that takes them and they are quoted on their own rather than folded into the load, the same way paint and car batteries are. Tell us the count when you book so it is in the quote instead of being added on the day.
How much of the garage can you clear in one visit?
We can almost always clear the whole thing. The truck holds 20 cubic yards, which is about eight pickup beds, and a single or double bay garage rarely fills it even when it looks impossible from the doorway. If you send a photo from the open door and it is genuinely wall to wall and ceiling high, we will tell you before the day whether it is one trip or two, so nobody is surprised at four in the afternoon.
Our Mission Beyond the Job
We keep as much out of landfills as we can. We sort through every truckload, and anything still usable that a charity will take goes for donation first, mostly to Big Blue Bargains in Swampscott, More Than Words in Boston and The Salvation Army.
What cannot be donated gets recycled wherever a facility will take it, and whatever is left goes to the disposal facilities we use.
