How Medford Handles Bulk Items
Medford collects chairs, tables, shelves and other bulky items on your recycling day, once you have scheduled and paid for each piece with the city's hauler. A mirror has to be taped so it cannot break, and an area rug has to be rolled and tied. Appliances, metal items, lawn mowers, snow blowers, exercise equipment, TVs and monitors cost more per item, and they only go out on Tuesdays. Nothing should go out on the sidewalk before the late afternoon or early evening of the day before your pickup, and the city fines anyone who puts it out sooner.
The city will not take sinks, toilets, bathtubs, doors, windows, screens, lumber, fencing, play structures, concrete, brick, stones or wall-to-wall carpet. It counts those as building and demolition materials and tells residents to make their own arrangements with a private outfit. We take renovation debris, concrete and brick, old fencing and play sets in Medford, and we carry them out from wherever they sit.
We checked each rule above against the official page it links to in October 2026.
