We take the table apart and carry the slate out
A pool table does not leave the room in one piece. It comes apart in the same order every time: the felt comes off the slate, the rails unbolt from the frame, the slate lifts out in sections one at a time, and then the frame and the legs come apart. We do all of it on site, every step, and you do not need to find a second person to help. If you have already started, leave the rest for us. Half a table with the rails off and the bolts in a coffee cup is harder to carry out than the whole table was, and the slate is heavy enough that it is safer in the hands of people who move it often.
Let The Heroes Save Your Day
Access is what sets the number on this job, not the table. Most of these are in a basement or a finished room downstairs, so the four things I ask about are the stair count, how many turns the stairway makes, how wide the narrowest doorway on the way out is, and how far it is from that room to where I can park the truck. That is the access half of weight and access, and it is half of what sets the number. Text me a photo of the table and a second photo of the path out with the doorway in it, and I can give you a number before anyone drives over, then we confirm it in person before we start. One thing to be clear on before you call, because it saves us both a trip. We take a pool table apart in order to haul it away, and that is the whole of what we do with it. We are not movers. We do not carry it to a new address, we do not put it back together, and we do not re-level the slate, so a table that is going somewhere else rather than going away needs a pool table mover instead of us. If it is going for good, the frame and the slate leave with us and that is the end of it.
Our Mission Beyond the Job
We care for the environment and are dedicated to keeping the North Shore clean, which is why our mission is to keep as many items as possible out of landfills. To accomplish this we sort through every truck load, and if we see something that can be donated we make sure it gets donated and not dumped.
Items that can't be donated but can still be repurposed get recycled. We partner with local transfer stations to safely dispose of the items left after we donate and recycle.

About Us, Our Story
The Junk Heroes is a brother-owned and operated junk removal company proudly rooted in Salem, MA. We live right on the line between Salem and Swampscott, two minutes from Vinnin Square, and we started this business because we saw a need for a junk removal service that actually showed up on time, treated customers like neighbors, and charged honest prices.
From our very first haul, we've been driven by one simple belief: every job deserves white glove care, whether it's a single couch or a full estate cleanout. That commitment has earned us 300+ five-star reviews from families and businesses throughout Salem, Swampscott, Beverly, Lynn, Marblehead, and beyond.
When you call The Junk Heroes, you're not calling a franchise, you're calling a company two brothers built from the ground up and still run, with a crew of friends who haul alongside them, and we personally stand behind every job we do.
We do this by the book. We carry $2M in general liability, a $1M umbrella policy and $1M in commercial auto coverage. We are USDOT registered (USDOT 8843043), our drivers hold DOT medical cards, and we hold commercial accounts at the disposal facilities we use, so every load ends up where it is supposed to. Call or text in English or Portuguese.

What We Take: Pool Table Removal
The ones people ask about: we do take paint, chemicals, motor oil, tires and car batteries. They are quoted separately because they need special handling. Mattresses, TVs and monitors are disposal-banned in Massachusetts, so they go to a specific recycler and carry a separate fee. The only things we turn down are asbestos, medical or biohazard waste, and anything leaking or still smouldering. See everything we take.
Pool Table Removal FAQs
Do I need to take any of it apart or line up help before you get here?
No, and if you have already started, you can leave the rest to us. Every part of the breakdown is ours: the felt off the slate, the rails off the frame, the slate out in sections one at a time, then the frame and the legs. A table half apart with the rails stacked against the wall and the bolts in a coffee cup takes us longer than a table nobody has touched, because loose parts need hands that should be on the slate. You do not need a second person either. What actually helps is the path out: clear whatever is stacked on the basement stairs, prop the bulkhead or the storm door open, and tell us when you book if the stairway has a turn in it, because a turn changes how many of us come.
How does a pool table come out of a finished basement?
In pieces, in order, and none of them go up those stairs together. The felt comes off first so the slate is bare, then the rails and the pockets unbolt from the frame, then the slate comes out in sections, one section at a time and one trip at a time. Only after the slate is out does the frame get touched, and the legs come off it last. That order is why the doorway width matters more than the room does: what has to clear your narrowest door is a slate section on its edge, not a pool table. If the stairway turns, say so when you call. A straight run of stairs and a run with a landing in the middle are not the same job, and we would rather bring an extra pair of hands than come up short.
How much does pool table removal cost?
A pool table is heavy for the space it takes up, and that is the part that moves the number. Volume work runs $80 to $100 per cubic yard against a truck that holds 20 cubic yards, with a $120 minimum, and the about $70 a yard rate is for a load that is light with easy access. A table is the opposite of that on both counts, so the weight and the basement carry push it away from the easy end of the range rather than toward it. I am not going to print a figure for the table itself, because the table is not what decides it: weight and access are. Send the two photos, the table and the path out, and you get a number before anyone drives over, then we confirm it in person before we start, and that is the number you pay. The pricing page has the rest of the numbers.
Can you move the table to my new place instead of hauling it?
What we do is take the table apart and haul it away, and we do all of that ourselves. Moving it to a new address is a different job: we don't carry it to the new place, set it back up or re-level the slate, so that work belongs to a pool table mover rather than to us, and I'd rather say that now than on the day. It's the same line we hold on a piano. The other thing worth saying plainly: if the table is going for good, the frame and the slate leave on our truck, and I won't promise it gets donated or recycled because we have no outlet for one. If the table is part of a bigger clearout, tell me when you call and we'll quote the basement cleanout or the whole estate cleanout on one visit instead of coming out twice.
