A treadmill built in the basement does not come back up in one piece, so it has to come apart first. It is the same story with an elliptical, an exercise bike, a rower, a home gym system, a squat rack, a weight bench, or the dumbbells and plates stacked next to all of it. We take the whole list, and we take it apart where it sits. You do not need to unbolt anything before we get there, you do not need to drag it out to the driveway, and you do not have to find a second person to help you lift it.

The stairs are what make this job hard, more than the weight. On a treadmill the console and the deck come off first, and what goes up the stairs is two or three parts we can turn on a landing instead of one long machine that jams at the first corner. On a home gym the cables come off and the weight stack comes out of the tower before the frame moves at all. On a rack the plates come off the pegs, then the uprights come off the base. It leaves in pieces and the pieces go straight onto the truck. The metal comes out of the load on the way: steel frames, racks, uprights, benches, plates and dumbbells are all scrap, and scrap goes to Turner Inc in Lynn rather than the transfer station. Two things to sort out before the day. Leave it assembled and just unplug it, because a pile of parts and a coffee can of loose bolts is harder to carry out than the machine was. And if a rack or a wall-mounted unit is lagged into the studs or bolted into the floor, we will unbolt it, but patching the holes it leaves behind is not part of the job, so plan on a tube of filler and a bit of paint after we go.

We are USDOT registered (USDOT 8843043), our drivers hold DOT medical cards, and we hold commercial accounts at the disposal facilities we use, so every load ends up where it is supposed to. Pricing is based on the volume and type of items. We always provide a free, upfront quote before any work begins, no surprises, ever.
