Cleanout Services in Salem & the North Shore
Bigger than a couch or a few bags. A whole garage, a basement nobody has walked into in years, or an entire house.
Cleanouts we do across the North Shore
A cleanout is a bigger job than a couch or a few bags, it's usually a whole garage or basement that nobody has been able to walk into for years, or a parent's house that has to be emptied before it can go on the market. We come to you in Salem or anywhere on the North Shore, walk through the space with you and give you the price before we start, then Filipe, the crew and I do the lifting and carrying and sweep up before we leave.
I know that a lot of these calls come at a hard time, after a loss in the family, or when a house has filled up over the years and nobody knows where to begin. None of us is going to judge any of it, we're there to do the work. Anything still usable we try to donate first, then we recycle whatever we can, and the dump only gets what's left. If you'd rather talk it through first, call 978-915-3399 and one of us will pick up.
What we handle
Every one of these works the same way on our end, we come out and look at the space with you and give you a price before we start moving anything. If none of these sounds quite like your situation, just call and describe it to us and we'll set up a time to come take a look.
-
Garage Cleanout
Most garages we clear out haven't had room for a car in a long time, and the easiest way to sort it is to pull everything onto the driveway with you and put back whatever you decide to keep.
-
Basement Cleanout
A basement is usually old furniture and boxes that got damp years ago, and all of it has to come up a narrow set of stairs, which is the part we take care of, you don't need to carry anything.
-
Attic Cleanout
It's hot and cramped up in an attic and most of what's there has been forgotten for years, we climb up ourselves and hand everything down the stairs and carry it out to the truck.
-
Full Estate Cleanout
When a parent passes, emptying out the house is the last thing anyone wants to think about, and we go at whatever pace you need, with anything the family wants to keep set aside before we start loading.
-
Hoarder Home Cleanout
We have walked into houses that got away from someone before, and nobody on the crew is going to make you feel bad about it, we start at the door and work through it one room at a time.
-
Eviction Cleanout
After a tenant moves out you usually need the unit empty quickly, and we clear out whatever got left behind, furniture, bags and all, then haul it away so you can get the place ready for the next person.
-
Property Foreclosure Cleanout
Whatever the last owner couldn't take with them is usually still sitting in a foreclosed house, and we clear every room, the garage and the yard so whoever is handling the property can walk through it empty.
-
Storage Unit Cleanout
If you've been paying every month for a unit you haven't opened in years, meet us there with the key, we load everything straight into the truck and you can finally close the unit out.
-
Office / Commercial Space Cleanout
The landlord usually wants the space empty when a business closes or moves out, so we take the desks, the filing cabinets and whatever else got left in the back room, at whatever hours work for the building.
What happens on a cleanout
It starts with a call or a text to 978-915-3399, and a real person on our team picks up, never a call center. You can text photos if that's easier, but for a whole space one of us will usually come out and walk it with you, because the price comes from how much room everything takes up in the truck and that's hard to guess from a picture. You get the number before we start, the visit is free, and if you'd rather wait or think it over there's no obligation and we don't ask for a card.
On the day, the crew and I show up with the truck and start loading. You don't need to drag anything to the curb or box anything up, that's what we're there for, and as we go we set aside anything that can still be donated, recycle what we can, and only what's left goes to the dump.
Once the last of it is on the truck we sweep up before we leave, and you pay after the job is done, by cash, card, check, Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and it's the same price we quoted you at the start.
What a cleanout costs
Our minimum is $120, and from there the price is based on volume, meaning how many cubic yards of the truck your stuff fills. Weight and access play into it too, so a basement full of heavy furniture up a flight of stairs will usually come in higher than the same amount of light stuff sitting in a garage next to the driveway, and for jobs that are far away from us the minimum can be higher.
The price we quote you when we look at the space is the price you pay, that's our price-lock promise, and you don't pay until the work is done. Deposits only come up on large cleanouts, and only after you've accepted the quote. The full breakdown is on our pricing page.
Who shows up
The Junk Heroes is me, Henrique, and my brother Filipe, and we run it out of Salem. When you call about a cleanout you get a real person on our team, never a call center, and on the job it's us along with Rey and Luis, who have done a lot of these with us.
We're fully licensed and insured, and customers have left us more than 300 five-star reviews on Google, which means a lot to Filipe and me. We try to treat a single garage with the same care as a whole estate, and I'm glad that so many people have noticed.

Cleanouts questions
Do I need to sort anything before you come?
No, sorting is part of what you're paying us for. If there are things you want to keep, set them aside or just tell us when we get there and we'll work around them, and everything else we sort ourselves as we load, pulling out whatever can be donated or recycled before the rest goes to the dump.
Can you quote a whole-house cleanout over the phone?
Usually not, because I'd rather not guess over the phone and then have to change the number on you. A single item like a couch we can quote by phone, but for a full space one of us comes out and looks at everything with you and gives you a firm price before we move anything, and the visit is free with no obligation.
Do I have to be there while you work?
You don't have to be there the whole time, though a lot of people like to be there at the start to walk through with us and point out what stays, and after that some head out and some stay, and we're fine either way. If it's a curbside pickup and everything is already outside, you don't need to be home at all.
How soon can you get to a cleanout?
It depends on the size of the job and what we already have booked, but we're open 24/7 and a real person answers the phone, so you'll get a straight answer about timing on that first call. Smaller cleanouts are often same-day, and the bigger ones we plan out with you so we show up with enough crew and enough room on the truck.
What happens to the mattresses and electronics?
Massachusetts has its own rules for how mattresses and electronics get disposed of, and we handle that part for you. We load them up along with everything else and make sure that they end up where they're supposed to go, and anything that is still in decent shape we try to donate first.
If you're ready, or just want to talk it through
If a space has gotten to the point where you don't know where to start, call or text 978-915-3399, a real person on our team picks up, and we can figure out together what it needs. Sending a few photos first works too, and if it turns out to be more than you're ready to take on right now, that's fine, we'll be here whenever you are. If you're a realtor, landlord or property manager who turns over units regularly, our Property Cleanouts program has priority scheduling, a broom-swept finish and photo documentation, and the link is just above.
"Absolutely recommend!!! Excellent communication, very polite, and clear pricing. These guys WANT TO WORK, flexible and patient as our plans kept shifting. My dad has dementia and they were incredibly sensitive to our situation. We really appreciated that!"
"Absolutely awesome experience with Junk Heroes! Professional, friendly, efficient, and incredibly quick. They showed up on time and made the whole junk-removal process painless. Moving out of an apartment is stressful enough, so a crew that takes pride in the work was huge."
"Junk Heroes did an amazing job with our junk removal in Saugus, Massachusetts. They arrived on time, worked fast, and completely cleared out a porch that was packed with junk, boxes, and old items. The before-and-after difference was amazing."
"The Junk Heroes are awesome!!! Excellent communication, showed up on time, and worked quickly. They were super careful while removing a heavy, awkward appliance through an old house and they talked to each other throughout the process to make sure nothing was damaged."
"Absolutely would recommend Henrique and Filipe, so nice and professional and came same day for both a quote and the actual removal!! They were careful to pivot things around our existing furniture and walls so as not to scratch or damage anything. Only good things to say!"
"Did a wonderful job from start to finish. Had 2 hospital beds that needed to be dismantled and hauled away. They took great care in moving the pieces throughout my house and getting them on the truck. Pricing was transparent and fair."
